Some Random 2009 Kona Ford Ironman World Championship Statistics

181 lottery winners made it to the start last year and 168 finished.

The fastest finisher was Germany's Michael Lauk (M40-44) in 10:12:16. In fact, six lottery finishers finished under 11 hours. In total, 13 finishes were under 12 hours.

The fastest female was San Martin, California's Chris Schilling in 12:41:47 in the W40-44 category.

1,653 of 1,778 made it to the finish at Kona a year ago. 125 DNF's.

All but 1 made it out of the water. 5 didn't make it out of T1. 40 didn't finish their bike and another 17 didn't come out for the bell at T2.

30 finished - all professionals - in under 9 hours - and only one female, Chrissie Wellington, of course.


255 made it between 9 and 10 hours.
487 - including 6 lottery winners (1.2%) - made it between 10 and 11 hours.
355 - including 7 lottery winners (1.9%) - made it between 11 and 12 hours.
181 - including 33 lottery winners (18.2%) - made it between 12 and 13 hours.

75 - including 44 lottery winners (58.7%) - made it between 15 and 16 hours.
