The initial Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas participant list was posted for the first time today, Friday, October 8, 2010.
Currently, there are 2,702 registered with 2,038 men and 664 women for a 75% to 25% split. This is actually pretty much in line to what the majority of domestic Ironmans have been running.
The youngest registrant so far is 14-year-old Gilbert Fontenot of Alabama and the two oldest men to register are Paul Martin of The Woodlands and Frederick Ford of Ontario, Canada.
The age group breakdown will shift a little bit because the list shows actual age as opposed to the age that competitors will be racing at in 2011.
The 40-44 age group has 610 registrants - 461 men and 149 women. They are both the largest numbers in any age group for men and women.
The complete detail is as follows:
18-24 -- 49 registrants (42 men; 7 women)
25-29 -- 233 registrants (174 men; 59 women)
30-34 -- 363 registrants (258 men; 105 women)
35-39 -- 578 registrants (443 men; 135 women)
40-44 -- 610 registrants (461 men; 149 women)
45-49 -- 445 registrants (316 men; 129 women)
50-54 -- 259 registrants (205 men; 54 women)
55-59 -- 92 registrants (75 men; 17 women)
60-64 -- 56 registrants (48 men; 8 women)
65-69 -- 11 registrants (11 men)
70-74 -- 2 registrants (2 men)
Almost 300 -- 291, to be exact -- of the 2,702 did not have any data valued in the state field.
To no one's surprise, 1,553 Texans are going to attempt to become Ironman finishers.
The other three most populous states are Florida (117), California (115) and Louisiana (94). That would take four states' total to 1,779 of the 2,702 individuals who have signed up for Ironman Texas.
